1. Who we are
PreLoved UG ("we", "us" or "our") runs an online marketplace where people in Uganda discover products from individual sellers and local shops. The service is operated by SAKI Associates LTD, based in Wakiso, Kireka, Uganda.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email address and profile picture when you sign up or sign in, including with Google. Google does not give us your Google password.
- Listing information: titles, descriptions, photos, prices, categories, conditions, districts or areas, and any phone or WhatsApp number you choose to show buyers.
- Usage and device information: technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and timestamps, mainly for security and service operation.
- Messages: buyers and sellers may arrange deals by WhatsApp or phone. Those conversations occur on those services and are not visible to PreLoved UG.
We do not collect payment card details. Buyers and sellers currently pay each other directly, in person.
3. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, display and review listings, let buyers contact sellers, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, fix problems, improve the service, and contact users about their accounts or listings. We do not sell personal information.
4. Sign in with Google
If you choose “Continue with Google”, we request only the basic openid, email and profile scopes. We use them to identify your account and show your name and profile picture. We do not access Gmail, Drive, contacts or other Google data. Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. You can remove access at any time at Google account permissions.
5. Who we share information with
- Other users: your name, listings, photos and contact details you choose to show are visible to visitors and users.
- Service providers: hosting, storage and communication providers only as needed to operate PreLoved UG.
- Legal reasons: where required by Ugandan law, a court or lawful request, or to protect users and the public.
We do not share personal information with advertisers.
6. Retention
We keep account information while an account is active. If you request account deletion, we delete or anonymise personal information within 30 days, except records we must retain for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Expired or removed listings may remain in backups for a limited period.
7. Your rights
Under the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information and may object to certain uses. Contact us by email. You may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) at NITA-U.
8. Security
We use HTTPS and reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No online service is completely secure, so use a strong account and take care with personal details included in listings.
9. Children
PreLoved UG is not intended for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
10. Cookies and storage
We use browser storage and essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and keep the site working. We do not currently use a separate advertising analytics service.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We will update the effective date and, for important changes, notify users on the site or by email.
